Architect Carla Juaçaba worked with Art Director Bia Lessa on the design of ‘Pavilion Humanidade 2012’. The brazilian architect and winner of this year’s arcVision prize for women in architecture, imagined a layered and translucent space exposed to the elements so as to remind users of their frailty in the face of nature. the five structural walls measuring 120 meters by 20 meters create a suspended walkway over rio’s landscape, interjected with spaces for the exhibition program as well as reflection and thought. the rooms additionally act as a type of sheathing, their stiffness helping brace the pavilion in critical moments. in keeping with visions of a sustainable future posited in the showcase and conference, the architecture is primarily comprised of previously used scaffolding and is fully recyclable.

OESTUDIO outono inverno// fall winter 2010 são paulo fashion week
OEstudio chose to show its collection through a virtual parade: a movie that showed pieces of the collection, as if it were a story.
On one side of the bleachers, a long screen, the size of the catwalk. In front, the audience. There were no photographers, the pit fivou empty, after all, the collection would be shown on video. The film consists of two models parading on a dark walkway, the music was like that of a silent film, then more insertions, such as social inclusion campaign, replicated and grainy images, detail details of finishes, combinations of clothes, of elasticity, images that looked like ballet, and there was even romance at the end. According to the stylists, a creative collective that besides fashion makes video, design and a lot of artistic thing, the idea was "to put the feet on the ground", hits the edges, hence the Tuning name of the collection.

Welkome //Tudo bem
from the album "Welkome"
The whole town is a stage. In celebration of the annual Salzburg Festival, for two whole weeks a spectacularly displayed costume-sketch of the “Buhlschafts-Robe” has come to life in the Cadenzza window display. The synergy between the individually attached crystals and spotlights is able to transform the wafting red silk skirt into three dimensional playfulness and oozes dramatic elegance. A perfect staging for Haute Couture.

Opening sequence for cantão ENTREMUNDOS 2010 fashion show and in-store videos cantao.com.br In politics, image is key. In an increasingly visual world, candidates are looking to design to help them better communicate who they are and what they stand for. Here in Maranhão, designers for political campaigns have generally worked with a limited palette of colors and icons: reds, whites, and blues; stars and stripes. That was not enough anymore. For new candidates, especially, to run and win, logos needed personality, authenticity, and punch. We consume information differently now, we’re constantly staring at screens with visual content, and we’re used to higher levels of design. The social media and general online presence was, of course, aligned with the general direction for TV and Print ads, created by Leiaute Propaganda from Salvador, Bahia. The main goal was to create a visual language that differs from the old and traditional, political style and to generate a more"popular" visual language that people could identify with, using bold and bright colors, as seen everywhere in Maranhão every day culture. Since Maranhão basically was governed by the same oligarchy for the past 50 years it was a big challenge to produce a new way of visual communication, especially in a region that lacked behind the rest of the country in economic terms but also where social media platforms, smartphones and the internet itself were starting to grow drastically at that time of the election period. This was the first election in Maranhão state where social media played a huge role, simply by the access to it, that people had for the first time in their life. We knew that the rivals traditional approach to campaign via TV and Radio wasn’t able to reach every corner of the state but almost everyone had a smartphone and access to social media, which worked to our benefit. Despite that almost all traditional media outlets, such as TV and Radio stations, traditional newspapers and journals were under the control of the Oligarchy, the information and messages we had to deliver, went out and was received everywhere. In closing, design and social media can play a big role in increasing turnout, by standing out from the rest and simply by reminding people why voting matters, and how to get involved. Flávio Dino was elected Governor of Maranhão State by 63,52% of the vote.
